Specifications

ECU

16 fuel channels, 10 ignition channels, 8 Digital EGTs and 8 Digital Gen Purpose Temperature Monitors

Touchscreen Control

VSFI uses a 7" Projected Capacitive Display Touchscreen similar to a smart phone with a glass surface for true responsive look and feel with little or no force needed from your finger. All software needed is contained in the touch screen and there is no need for expensive clumsy  laptops or any supporting software of any kind for configuration, setup and tuning. The ECU can run with or without the touchscreen connected after setup.

100% Optically isolated CPUs

Designed from scratch to be the most robust aftermarket ECU on the market. Not a stolen OEM design or a DIY type ECU built from plans downloaded off the web. VSFI uses a 100% optically isolated design, isolating the CPUs from stray signals allowing the unit to be more reliable in the most electrically noisy environments like marine applications where there is no natural faraday cage effect from the chassis of the vehicle as in automotive applications.

Multiple Core CPUs

VSFI uses multiple processing cores dedicated to the most critical areas; Ignition, Fuel and User Control (touchscreen). Not one big single core CPU that has to make decisions on which area has priority at any given moment. True concurrent parallelism, giving all areas equal priority allowing true deterministic real time event handling up to 12k rpm.

Hand Held Controller for Tune/Trim

VSFI provides a hand held joystick that allows the user to interactively tune the fuel map in the field where the vehicle is to be used. Not a PC based system where the map is tuned on a dyno, in a closed room in an environment completely different than what the engine will see in the field. This can be used to create fuel maps from scratch or "trim" existing fuel maps.

Variable Fuel Map Sizes, Breakpoints

VSFI allows the user to configure the fuel map (either Alpha-N or Speed Density) to any size, from one cell (1x1 map) to a max size of 1,920 cells (30x64 map).  These smaller "Breakpoint" maps allow the user to drastically simplify in the field tuning if your application simply does not need the complexity.

Secondary Injectors for Nitrous Enrichment

VSFI can be setup to use an additional set of injectors for Nitrous enrichment or a staged primary/secondary injector configuration.

Bi-Linear Interpolation of Fuel Period Cells (LERP)

VSFI uses dynamic Bi-Linear Interpolation of the fuel cells displayed in the grid to smooth the actual periods the fuel injectors will see. This feature can be enabled/disabled from the touchscreen to simplify setting up the fuel map.

Metrics Logging to USB

VSFI allows all metrics to be logged to a USB memory stick for later analysis.

Digital EGTs

VSFI provides up to 8 individual digital EGTs. This allows tuning the engine more to the "edge" as all cylinder temps are known, not just an average. This also allows you to see if an injector is malfunctioning due to dirt or other problems before it destroys your engine.

Digital Temps

VSFI uses advanced Mil-Spec grade digital engine temperature controllers, exactly what military aircraft use for precision temperature monitoring, not crude ADC (Analog to Digital Conversion) analysis that is susceptible to environmental noise.

Flexibility

VSFI can be used as Ignition only, EFI only or Metrics (Dashboard) only  or any combination. As a Dashboard only option, it gives the user 8 Digital EGTs , 6 Digital temp inputs, USB logging and integrated starting/charging control.

External CDI Ignition System

Using "stacked" power supplies allowing power to be multiplied as needed.

Why CDI?

Many applications cannot use inductive type ignitions simply because there is not enough time to charge a coil and/or provide any timing curve based on the engine type (two stroke engines for example) or rpm requirements. The VSFI CDI can use multiple power supplies if the application requires more power. This allows the duty cycle to be doubled if engine requirements dictate the need. Any ignition coil on the market can be used. Also "positive" voltage CDI systems available.

Very High Voltage

But not so high as to cause problems. Anyone can make a power supply to create extremely high primary coil voltage. But is it needed? Electrical specifications can be misleading with regards to CDI systems. The fact of the matter is that you can over power your ignition coils due to "magnetic saturation", a parasitic attribute of any electrical transformer. The VSFI CDI is tuned to have high power but not exceed the limit of the ignition coil which could cause no spark at all.

Simulator Tested

Most CDI systems are never tested to the advertised specifications. What is the duty cycle? Every power supply has a duty cycle and exceeding that will cause power to drop. VSFI CDI units are tested on a simulator pushing them  as high as 12k rpm to ensure they meet the required ignition coil voltage over the entire rpm range of the application.
